Choose the best and large potatoes for preparing French fries recipe at your home. Carefully peel the outer skin of potatoes using a vegetable peeler or a knife.

After peeling, place the potato on its side and carefully cut off the rounded edges. Transform it into a rectangular block and slice it into sticks (see the image below to get a clear picture of it).

Once you chop the potatoes into the ideal shape of French fries, rinse and wash the sticks in cold water to remove excess starch, and then dry them with a paper towel.

Now, keep a large pot of water for boiling. When the water starts boiling, add the potato sticks and boil them for 5 minutes over a high flame.

Take out the sticks from the pot and spread them out on a clean paper towel or kitchen towel. Pat them dry using another paper towel thoroughly.

Transfer them to a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle about 3 tablespoons of corn flour over the potato sticks. Toss gently to coat each stick evenly and create a light, crispy crust when fried.

Now, grab a deep pan or fryer and pour enough oil to fry the fries. Preheat the oil over a high flame before frying the fries.

Carefully add potato sticks into the frying pan in small batches and fry them for about 5 minutes or more if it’s not cooked. Like this, fry all the potato sticks, and if you prefer more crispy, then fry them again as a second round.

Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on fresh paper towels to soak up any excess oil. While the fries are hot, sprinkle them with your favorite seasonings like salt, peri-peri, garlic powder, and paprika.

Serve and enjoy the French fries with sauces such as ketchup and mayonnaise.

Additional tips
Choose the right potato like large and starchy.
Cut the fries into uniform sticks. This helps to cook evenly and won’t end up with some fries burnt and others undercooked.
After cutting, rinse your fries in cold water to wash the excess starch. Then, dry them well with a paper towel or kitchen towel.
Double-fry the fries for the best texture and crispiness.
